EYFS

The nursery follows the guidance set out by the Early Years Foundation. The Early Years Foundation Stage sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.   It includes detailed information on the 7 areas of learning and development.

Three prime areas underpin children’s learning:

  • Communication and language

  • Physical Development

  • Personal, Social and Emotional development

As children grow they will be supported to develop skills in 4 specific areas.

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design.

Alongside the EYFS, our nursery uses the  Development Matters document to help us design an effective early years curriculum. This guidance helps us to make informed decisions about what a child needs to learn and be able to do next.
